I was a hairstylist, a mom, and someone who wanted an easier way to deep condition with heat at home.

While learning to sew on a vintage Bernina passed down to me by my mother-in-law, I had an idea: create a hands-free heat cap filled with flaxseed that could be warmed in the microwave and worn while I went about my day.

That idea became Hot Head™ — the original flax-filled microwavable deep conditioning heat cap.

I started small, hand sewing each Hot Head™ myself and selling them one order at a time through Etsy. What began as a simple solution slowly found its way into the routines of customers looking for an easier, more comfortable way to deep condition with heat.

A STORY THAT ALMOST ENDED.

In 2012, my family lost our home — and nearly everything connected to Hot Head™ — in a devastating Colorado wildfire.

I thought that might be the end of it.

Then messages started arriving from customers asking when Hot Head™ would return.

Their encouragement gave me the push to start again.

By 2014, Thermal Hair Care had grown from those early handmade orders into an established business, and Hot Head™ continued reaching more customers around the world.

Today, Hot Head™ has reached hundreds of thousands of customers around the world, but the idea behind the product has never changed.

We continue to focus on thoughtful construction, generous flaxseed fill, comfortable coverage, and making deep conditioning with heat easier — without cords, batteries, or bulky equipment.

From the beginning, Hot Head™ has been proudly made in the USA.
